Taylor Stayton has the opportunity to play a myriad of roles in his profession; on Friday, April 12, 2019, he assumes the role of the youngest to ever be inducted into the Sidney City Schools Hall of Honor.

Taylor will be joining the Hall with 2019 inductees Tim Bickel (SHS 1967), Tom Clark, and David Shadoan (SHS 1975) during the induction ceremony on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 7:00 PM, with a gymnasium reception to follow, both open to the public.*

Just a few short months after Sidney High School’s graduation in 1975, David Shadoan loaded into a friend’s old Chevy van and headed for the west coast. He used to read the back of record albums and would take in all the information he could about the musicians. Though uncertain as to what capacity, Dave knew he would pursue music as part of his profession. He likely never imagined that trip would take him on a journey in which he would work with some of the music industry’s biggest names, nor did he know it would ultimately lead to his induction in his alma mater’s Hall of Honor.

Shadoan is set to be inducted Friday, April 12, 2019 with a 7pm ceremony in the Sidney High School auditorium, followed by a gymnasium reception, both of which are open to the public. Joining him in this year’s class are Tim Bickel (SHS 1967), Tom Clark, and Taylor Stayton (SHS 2003).

Current Sidney High School teacher and head football coach Adam Doenges once said, “There’s a long-standing joke around Sidney High School about what Tom Clark actually does. The truth is, we really won’t know until he quits because we suspect he does everything.”

Tom Clark came to Sidney to teach special education and coach basketball in 1991; as evidenced by the aforementioned quote, Tom has become an essential member of the Sidney community and school system and has done so much more than anyone could ever imagine.

On Friday, April 12, 2019, Tom Clark will be inducted into the Sidney City Schools Hall of Honor, along with Tim Bickel (SHS 1967), David Shadoan (SHS 1975), and Taylor Stayton (SHS 2003). The ceremony will take place in the Sidney High School Auditorium beginning at 7:00 pm and will be followed with a gymnasium reception, both of which are fully open to the public.

The Sidney City Schools Hall of Honor will increase membership to 131 on Friday April 12, 2019. The 26th annual induction ceremony will take place in the Sidney High School Auorium beginning at 7:00pm. The Hall represents alumni, retired employees, and supporters of the school district who have positively impacted the community, excelled in their profession, or contributed to make a lasting impression on the world.

Of those receiving the highest honor bestowed by Sidney City Schools this year is Timothy Bickel, a pillar of education in Sidney City Schools during his years of service and a pillar of the Sidney community for a lifetime.

Fellow Hall of Honor inductee Tom Clark wrote that Tim “exhibited outstanding organizational skills and possessed excellent rapport with staff and students.” These skills helped steer learning in Sidney City Schools for over three decades and validate his induction.
