31st Annual Hall of Honor Set for April 2025

Sidney City Schools is pleased to announce the 31st annual Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony set to take place Friday, April 25, 2025. A reception will precede the induction ceremony beginning at 6:00 PM at Sidney High School, and the ceremony will begin at 7:00 PM in the Sidney High School Auditorium. 

“It is our honor to recognize these four outstanding people for their successes and contributions to the world around them,” said Hall of Honor Chairman, Rudy Keister. 

The Hall of Honor Committee proudly announces the HOH Class of 2025. Those being inducted include visionary financial leader and community advocate, Claudie Johnson, Jr. (SHS 1981); dedicated art educator, lifelong learner, and fine arts advocate, Donnajean Ruble; and passionate educator, innovator, and advocate for science & technology, Bob Tenney.

“Each year we have been able to present an array of outstanding inductees to the Hall and this year is no different,” added Keister. “This year’s class of inductees has ambitiously touched the lives of many through their notable skills and educational impact.”

Claudie Johnson, Jr.: Visionary Financial Leader & Community Advocate

Claudie Johnson, Jr. (SHS Class of 1981) is a distinguished financial professional, community advocate, and trusted advisor with decades of experience in banking, credit unions, and wealth management. As the Managing Director and Founder of JareMarc Advisors, he specializes in retirement planning, wealth management, and financial counseling, with a mission to empower individuals and communities toward financial stability.

His extensive career includes leadership roles at 1st Choice Credit Union, Self-Help Credit Union, Society Bank (now KeyBank), First Union Bank, Merrill Lynch, and Fifth Third Bank. A Certified Financial Planner™ since 2004, Claudie has also dedicated himself to supporting U.S. military personnel through financial literacy programs both domestically and abroad.

Beyond finance, he is a passionate advocate for education and social impact, serving on boards for Heidelberg University and Johnson C. Smith University while supporting organizations like United Way, the United Negro College Fund, and Charlotte Rescue Mission. A mentor with 100 Black Men of Charlotte, he is committed to guiding the next generation of leaders.

A Sidney, Ohio native, Claudie earned his business degree from Heidelberg College, where he excelled in basketball, earning Hall of Fame honors. Now residing in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife, Vivian, he remains dedicated to leadership, financial empowerment, and community service.

Donnajean Ruble – Dedicated Art Educator, Lifelong Learner & Community Advocate

Donnajean Ruble dedicated 32 years of her career to art education, finding fulfillment in teaching and inspiring students through creativity, self-expression, and personal growth. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Youngstown State University and a master’s degree from Wright State University. Donna taught at various schools before joining Sidney City Schools in 1983, where she taught art across multiple elementary schools and Bridgeview Middle School. Throughout her career, she continuously refined her skills through workshops and seminars, embracing innovative teaching methods to make art education engaging and accessible.

In addition to her teaching, Donna has been deeply involved in her community, volunteering for organizations like the United Way, S&H Products, Charity League, and the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA. She also taught art classes in retirement at Ohio Living Dorothy Love and the Buckeye Family YMCA in Pataskala, Ohio. One of her proudest achievements is establishing the Ruble Family "Keep Art in Your HeART" Fund, which has awarded over $10,000 in grants to support art education in Shelby County.

Donna’s legacy extends beyond the classroom, with her focus on nurturing young artists and making art accessible to all. She resides in Sidney with her family and continues to be a dedicated advocate for the arts, leaving a lasting impact on her community and the students she mentored.

Passionate Educator, Innovator, and Advocate for Science & Technology

Bob Tenney – Passionate Educator, Innovator, and Advocate for Science & Technology

Bob Tenney dedicated 38 years to Sidney City Schools, where he inspired students with his dynamic approach to teaching Physics. Known for transforming his classroom into a hands-on Physics Lab, Bob's passion for teaching and academic excellence had a lasting impact on generations of students. After earning his Bachelor of Science from Wright State University, Bob taught at Northwood and Bridgeview Middle Schools before joining Sidney High School, where he taught Math, Computer Programming, and Physics. He furthered his education with a Master of Science in Education and an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Dayton.

Bob’s leadership extended beyond the classroom. As Technology Coordinator, he helped develop the first computer lab at Sidney High School and was pivotal in creating the school's website and integrating technology throughout the district. He also played an important role in the Science Department as Chair and contributed to the development of the school’s new Science Wing. In addition, Bob served in various leadership roles, including Co-Chair of the Curriculum Council, Junior and Senior Class Advisor, and Treasurer of the Sidney Education Association.

Throughout his career, Bob earned numerous accolades, including the S.E.A. Career Achievement Award, Sidney-Shelby County Exemplary Teacher Award, and Sidney High School Teacher of the Year Award. He was also recognized with the S.E.A. Teacher of the Year Award, the S.E.A. Doers Award, and the Tandy Technology Scholars Outstanding Teacher Award.

Now retired, Bob lives in Sidney with his wife, Cathy, and enjoys spending time with their two children and five grandchildren. He remains active in creative pursuits such as stained glass, model trains, and photography, and enjoys traveling and continuing his lifelong learning journey with Cathy.

Join Sidney City Schools in honoring Claudie, Donnajean, and Bob as they are inducted into the Hall of Honor on Friday, April 25, 2025. Both the reception and the ceremony are open to the public.
