2006 Inductees
Whether they are a past Sidney High School graduate,
a former staff member, or someone who has had a significant impact on our community, the achievements of these inductees are a source of pride for Sidney City schools and our community.
Jim & Doris (Davis) Abbott (SHS 1962) were SHS graduating classmates in 1962. Both were educators and were the parents of nine children, three natural and six adopted. They also served as foster parents to over eighty other children, many of whom had special needs. The Abbotts reached out to so many children that their home had to be licensed as a group home.
William H. Deam (SHS 1940) was a decorated Army Air Corps pilot during World War II (63 missions), and returned home to make a difference in his hometown both professionally and in public service including Rotary, IUTIS, and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Harry N. Faulkner (SHS 1959) Harry became a partner in one of Sidney's more prominent law firms while serving numerous community causes. He was a founder of the West Ohio Development Corporation, established in the early 1980's to promote local and area economic growth.
Larry Lorton, PhD (SHS 1956) enjoyed a distinguished career in education which began with teaching and coaching, and finished with acknowledgment as an outstanding nationally recognized school superintendent. He is credited with designing and implementing Ohio's first public school system retirement incentive plan.
